Created in 2014, RAIR (Recycled Artists in Residence) is an annual program enabling 8 artists, recognized or emerging, to create their artworks from waste. The residency offers them, on a unique waste processing platform (450 tons received per day), a workshop to carry out their work, the necessary tools, and all the materials (paper, fabric, plastic, metal, wood, etc.) that inspire them.
Turning ugly into beautiful
Each artist is supported by the RAIR teams. The aim of the project is to divert the perception of waste by transforming it. Works already produced include a theater set and an amphitheater made of compressed metal.
RAIR is not only an artists’ residency, but also partnerships with other structures, project commissions, studio visits, exhibitions and other public events.
