Monumental Valois a unique journey through contemporary art

Antoine Bourdelle is a major figure in French sculpture of the early XXᵉ century. A pupil of Alexandre Falguière and assistant to Rodin, he embodied the artistic transition between academicism and the modernist avant-garde. Born in Montauban, he showed an early talent for sculpture and, after studying in Toulouse, moved to Paris to develop his unique style.

Daniel Buren is a major figure in international contemporary art. Renowned for his site-specific work, he conceives his creations in interaction with the places they occupy. His “visual tool”, alternating bands of color and white 8.7 cm wide, became his artistic signature.

César Baldaccini is a major artist of the New Realist movement, alongside such figures as Arman and Jean Tinguely. Self-taught, he turned to modern art after training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Jean-Pierre Raynaud is a French visual artist known for his work with symbols and everyday materials. With a degree in horticulture, he began his artistic career in the 1960s with iconic works using cement-filled flower pots, road signs and the white tiles with black grout that have become his signature.

Reskate Studio is an artist collective formed by María López and Javier de Riba, from Donostia-San Sebastián and Barcelona respectively. Michel Verjux made a name for himself in the 1980s with a body of work focusing on light and perception. After exploring drawing, poetry and performance art, he turned to the visual arts in 1983, using lighting as his main medium.
