Desert X is a biennial event, held alternately in California at Coachella, and in Saudi Arabia at Alula, whose philosophy is to push back the walls of conventional museums and galleries to create an intercultural dialogue in breathtaking expanses. The biggest names in contemporary art amplify the beauty of the desert, while offering a visual response to important questions about history, society and philosophy. All visitors have to do is set off on an adventure and open their hearts.
The first Desert X took place in 2017 in Coachella Valley (California) with just 16 artists. Today, each exhibition welcomes over 2 Million visitors. Since 2020, Desert X has organized exhibitions elsewhere in the world, including Desert X AlUla, in the Saudi Arabian desert, which brings together artists from the Middle East and beyond. Desert X AlUla is a celebration of art, culture and nature, offering today’s citizens an immersive experience in the heart of the AlUla desert.
